Maria Segerholm

Maria Segerholm is an independent Christian artist and songwriter from Sweden who longs to spread hope and the love of Jesus through her music. Her music is soulful with influences from many different genres such as pop, RnB, gospel and country music.

Ever since Maria was a teenager she has felt a deep longing for using her musical gifts to honor God and serve others. She felt that God spoke to her about a music ministry calling. But she had a bumpy road ahead of her. After vocal problems, shut doors and a long waiting season of 13 years, she experienced that God talked to her in 2021 about a new season of music ministry. It was time to step out into His calling for her. With hindsight, Maria can see that the waiting season helped her grow and it prepared her for what was to come. Her song called "A New Song" tells this story of her music journey.

Since then, Maria has been releasing songs regularly. It all began with the song "Healing Rain". She wrote the song as a prayer for her close friend who was suffering from the horrible disease ME/CFS (Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) for over 7 years. It's a disease without a cure that millions of people worldwide are suffering from. Maria felt led to release the song, so that others who wait for a healing hopefully would experience hope, comfort and strength through the song. Her friend Richelle Fri had previously painted a beautiful blue butterfly, the M.E symbol, and with her permission Maria used it for the cover art. "Healing Rain" will always be a special song to her as she wrote it for her dear friend, but what makes it even more special is that she gets to share her friend's testimony of healing alongside the song. A few months after the song released, her friend was miraculously healed. PRAISE GOD!!

"Healing Rain" was later part of Maria's four song EP "Healing Hope". Since then, Maria has released multiple singles and another EP, a lament EP called "From the Ashes". The EP consists of four songs that will take you on a journey from lament to praise. "Do Not Delay" is a prayer inspired by Psalm 40. "From the Ashes" is co-written with Tom Taylor and is written from the perspective of Job. "My Faith Survives" is based on Psalm 18. And lastly "Where Breakthrough Starts" ft. Ed Marl, is inspired from several Bible verses but mainly from Isaiah 43:19. Maria released a complementary 4-day- devotional alongside the lament EP that you get for free when you sign up to her newsletter.

Maria draws inspiration for her lyrics from the Bible and from personal life experiences. She has been through a lot of trials and she often writes vulnerable songs about what she experiences. Her prayer is that the songs would mean something for others who are struggling. She obviously wouldn't wish anyone to go through the trials she's been through, but with hindsight she can see that God has used them to strengthen her and grow her faith. Her song from the lament EP previously mentioned, "My Faith Survives", is her life testimony.

In the beginning of 2025, Maria collaborated with the Australian artist Tom Mottershead. They released a co-written song called "Lead Me To The Rock".

Maria suffered a stroke in 2024, and during her recovery she felt that God placed song ideas in her heart. She asked some friends to help her bring those ideas into finished songs, and she's currently working on releasing them all on an EP called "Praise through Trials". The first song is already released. It's a song called "Overthinker", that she co-wrote with Tom Taylor. Maria can't wait to share the full EP of songs in the beginning of 2026.

Maria is a part of the acoustic pop duo Silent Hope. Maria previously released the album "I Need to Know" back in 2009 under the name Maria Sahar. It was a school project with songs in different genres and in three different languages.
